PHARE: Investigating Calcium Signaling in Phage–Bacteria Interactions

January 16, 2026

We are pleased to announce that our team has received funding from the FR for the PHARE project, a collaborative initiative involving three laboratories.
PHARE addresses a fundamental question in microbiology: how intracellular calcium signaling influences bacterial responses to bacteriophage infection. By combining genetic tools and live-cell imaging, the project aims to uncover whether calcium dynamics play a regulatory role in phage-induced bacterial death, a process that remains largely unexplored.
The project is co-led by Mayuri Sadoine (co-PI and project coordinator) and brings together Amandine and Bethel, integrating complementary expertise across disciplines.
